Alaska Willow Ptarmigan:

Hunting trips for Willow Ptarmigan at Wildman Lake Lodge have been featured on several cable television shows, like this clip from: "North to Alaska", with Super Bowl legend Larry Csonka.  Wildman has also hosted several wing shooting progams for Upland Days with Dash & Dez and Hunting with Hank.  With the wing shooting season opening on August 10th, ptarmigan hunting is easily combined with any fall fishing at Wildman Lake Lodge. Ptarmigan can be found in abundant numbers, just walking distance from the lodge during the entire hunting season which runs well into winter. During September and October even more birds come from the surrounding highlands to feed upon the bounty of ripe fall berries which are plentiful near the lodge.

If you are a upland bird hunting enthusiast,  hunting ptarmigan over our Brittany pointers is an adventure that needs to be on your "Bucket List".  Ptarmigan can be found in abundance in our area.  Generous bag limits of 20 per day make ptarmigan hunting a worth while venture. Our guides and bird dog handlers can take you for morning hunt, afternoon hunt or an all day fly-out bird hunting excursion.  Your can combine upland bird hunting with any sport fishing package after August 10th, the perfect time to enjoy Alaska's finest fishing for Arctic Char, Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Steelhead.  Both 12 and 20 guage shotgun shells and gun rental are available at our lodge.

This is special 5 day - 5 night fully guided wing shooting and fishing is available during the first ten days of the wing shooting season in Alaska.  We will have pointer/retriever Brittanys with handlers available during this period as well as our full staff of professional sport fishing guides.
