Trophy Alaska Brown Bear:     Classified the same as the Kodiak bear, Alaska Peninsula Brown Bears from Cinder River Lodge hold several of the top positions in the Safari Club International Book of Records. With nearly one hundred salmon streams in our area, our brown bears are well nourished and grow to be some of the largest in the world. Several bear taken by our hunters have exceeded 11 foot, squared hide measurement. This is Alaska's top trophy brown bear area. We limit our annual harvest so book your hunt as early as possible. We have a brown bear hunting season on the Alaska Peninsula every other fall and every other spring. We hunt brown bear in October on odd numbered years and May, on even numbered years. Success is high during our spring and fall season.  Each season our average bear hide squares over nine foot. It is not unusual for us to take four or five bear over ten foot during a typical hunt. You will find bears from Cinder River Lodge all over the SCI Record Book. Although not everyone takes a ten foot bear, there are many in this area and you would not have a better chance anywhere in the world.

Alaska Trophy Moose Hunts:

Moose hunting is done in some of our brushier country where they feed on willows and begin to gather their cows in mid-September for the rutting season.  Spike camps are established in these areas, the day before the hunt. Although the State minimum antler size is 50 inches, it is our goal to only take trophies in the sixty to seventy inch plus range.  Careful management and selectively hunting this area for over three decades, we have an excellent population of trophy class bulls to choose from. Our largest moose in recent years was 76-1/2 inches. Each year we average in the mid to high 60's. Success has been nearly 100% on these large trophy moose since 1971. Our Cinder River area is without a doubt, one of Alaska's finest trophy moose areas.

Cinder River Lodge Information:

The Cinder River Lodge is located about midway down the Alaska Peninsula. The Cinder River Lodge hunting concessions include a large exclusive portion of the Aniakchak National Park/Preserve as well as lands managed by the State of Alaska. These combined concessions reach the full width of the Alaska Peninsula and include approximately 2,000 square miles making it one of the largest guide concessions on the peninsula. The terrain varies from coastal beaches and marsh land to brushy lowlands, hills and the alpine Aleutian Mountains which separate the Pacific side from the Bristol Bay side of the Alaska Peninsula. Our lodge facility includes a comfortable hunter's bunkhouse, shower house and main lodge with modern kitchen, dining room and three private rooms for couples and some of our crew. Yes, we have running water and generate our own power. Guests are asked only to bring their weapon of choice, personal clothing, footwear and a warm sleeping bag. All other food, supplies and camp gear will be provided by the Cinder River Lodge.

Our bush equipped aircraft are based right at the lodge, to support the hunting operation. Each hunter is flown to a different spike camp where he and his personal guide will hunt for the trophy desired. Camps are checked often and moved to fresh areas as needed, to assure you the best possible chances for a successful hunt and a quality trophy. The Cinder River Lodge employs only licensed, professional guides. We have some of the best in Alaska. Most of them have been hunting this area for several years. Each is experienced in all types of Alaska hunting, including the situations that arise in the field such as: judging trophies, butchering, skinning, fleshing and taking care of your trophy as well as the necessary duties around the spike camp.
