Fly Fishermen    We have found that 6 wt. rods are best for our Char and Trout and 8 wt. for all Salmon except King Salmon.  On King Salmon we prefer 9 or 10 wt. rods.  Anti-reverse reels are handy for all salmon fishing.  We use mostly combination fly lines: floating lines with a sinking tip of 10 to 15 feet.  Floating lines can be used for Trout, Char and Silvers.  Our most effective Salmon Patterns are large attractors: # 2 up to #3/0 for King Salmon.  Bright colors, Red, Pink, Purple, Orange are generally best.  We use a lot of mylar, Flashabou, and tinsel in our salmon flies.  Weighted bodies or weighted eyes help the fly get down.  Salmon like lots of Mirabou.  Char and trout flies should be tied on #10 to #6 hooks.

Spin-Cast Fishermen     We use mostly 8 to 9 foot, two piece, spinning rods with open face reels.  Line test varies by species: #10 line for Char and Trout, #15 for Sockeye and Pinks,  #20 for Chum and Silvers and #30 for King Salmon.  Please bring either two or four piece rods in a durable rigid case.  Your reels should be wounds with NEW line.  Single hook lures are best for releasing our native trout and char, and releasing salmon once you get your daily limit.  No ONE PIECE rods please.
